Brown, Snider receive Paul and Martha Meek Leadership Awards

Brady Brown, of Lawrenceburg, and Sydney Snider, of Lexington, received Paul and Martha Meek Leadership Awards during the University of Tennessee at Martin’s fall 2018 commencement exercises Dec. 15. These awards showcase outstanding community and campus service by graduating students and are the only awards given during commencement each semester.

Brady completed a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a concentration in animal science. During his time at UT Martin, he served as a peer counselor in the First-Year Initiative Program and helped his fellow students navigate the transition from high school to college. He also led the veterinary science club as president, was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and participated in the Ned Ray McWherter Institute. He has also been active in the First Baptist Church ministry.

He plans to enroll in veterinary school and has gained work experience in a variety of veterinary settings, including the Shoal Creek Animal Hospital in Lawrenceburg, the Williamson County Animal Hospital in Franklin and the West Tennessee Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory on the UT Martin main campus.

Snider completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology. During her years at UT Martin, she was active in the First-Year Initiative Program and held a variety of leadership roles in the UT Martin chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was also nominated to represent her ADPi chapter at the organization’s international convention. Snider was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology.

Dr. Paul Meek served the UT Martin campus as executive officer, dean, UT vice president or chancellor from 1934 to 1967. This award was originally established and funded by the three Meek children to honor their parents.
