WestStar alumni invited to ‘lunch and learn’

The University of Tennessee at Martin WestStar Leadership Program is launching a quarterly “Lunch, Learn, Leadership” program for WestStar graduates across the region. The first event will be held from noon-1 p.m., Jan. 14, at Central Distributors Inc. at 1876 Lager Lane in Jackson. Lunch is complimentary, and all WestStar alumni are invited.

 

The Jan. 14 program will focus on Civics 101 with Dr. Chris Baxter, professor and chair, UT Martin Department of Accounting, Finance, Economics and Political Science, to speak. Baxter will cover topics such as how a bill becomes a law, why the United States uses an electoral college and how community members can contact their respective Congressional representatives.

 

These quarterly lunches will all be held at Central Distributors Inc. Upcoming programs will focus on parliamentary procedures April 8, West Tennessee think tanks July 15 and grant writing for non-profits Oct. 7.
