Summer orientation sessions wrap up in July

Students planning to be freshmen at the University of Tennessee at Martin during the fall 2019 semester have two remaining opportunities to attend Summer Orientation and Registration this year. Sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., July 12 and 22, in the UT Martin Boling University Center. Students attending classes at all UT Martin center locations are required to attend SOAR on the main campus.

Students must have received an official acceptance letter from UT Martin to attend orientation. Registration $45 per student and $20 for each additional guest, including parents, guardians, siblings and friends. No tuition or fee payments are due until the start of the fall semester.

Orientation begins with check-in and an administrative fair, and an official welcome will begin at 9. Break-out sessions discussing Greek life, student organizations, choosing a major and preparing for academic success will be held later in the morning.

Additional sessions on the transition to college, housing and meal plans, travel-study and study-abroad opportunities will follow lunch in the Skyhawk Dining Hall. Students will then meet with a faculty advisor to register for classes.

Special orientation sessions for transfer and adult students will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., July 19. Special interest sessions on similar topics will be held from 9-10:30 a.m., and academic advising with faculty advisors will begin at 10:45. Optional campus tours will leave the Boling University Center at 1 p.m. Attendance at in-person orientation is optional for transfer and adult students, and there is no cost to attend.
