Church receives the 2020 Martin Kiwanis Award for Leadership and Service

Sidney Church, a senior political science major from Santa Fe, is the 2020 recipient of the Martin Kiwanis Award for Leadership and Service, which is given in recognition of Dr. S.K. Airee, a long-time chemistry faculty member at the University of Tennessee at Martin and charter member of the Martin Kiwanis Club.

The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student of at least a sophomore standing who shows academic excellence, leadership in co-curricular activities, and citizenship and service to the university and community. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout or Gold Girl Scout in the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of America, and have been a member of the Key Club in high school or have been involved in the collegiate Circle K Club.

On top of meeting the award requirements, Church has also volunteered with outreach organizations such as Make a Wish, Letters in Motion, Operation Christmas Child, St. Jude and the Martin Rotary Club. She serves as the Student Government Association academic affairs chair and senator for the College of Business and Global Affairs, is a member of Chi Omega sorority, the treasurer for the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature and is a Peer Enabling Program Leader.

The Martin Kiwanis Award for Leadership and Service was endowed in 2017 by Airee in honor of the Martin Kiwanis Club.
