Los Lobos to host virtual interactive performance Sept. 25

The University of Tennessee at Martin will host a virtual music presentation and interactive Q&A with “Los Lobos,” a Grammy-winning band from Los Angeles, at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, as the first performance in the fall 2020 installment of the Ed Sargent Guest Artist Series.

The Los Lobos event is sponsored by the Department of Music, the Department of History and Philosophy, the Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs and the Coleman Family Latino Student Recruitment Initiative.

Los Lobos has created culturally diverse music for almost 50 years, incorporating genres like soul, R&B, Tejano, son jarocho, rock ‘n’ roll and folk into their music to showcase America’s cultural identity as a melting pot.

The event will be livestreamed from the UT Martin Department of Music Facebook account.

The guest artist series is named for UT Martin alum Ed Sargent, a 1982 graduate from Bolivar. Sargent is a Grammy-nominated producer and has completed many national and international tours. He currently serves as tour coordinator for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

For more information about the event, contact the UT Martin Department of Music at 731-881-7402 or visit utm.edu/musicevents.
