UT Martin dance ensemble film connects performers through pandemic

The University of Tennessee at Martin Dance Ensemble’s fall showcase “6 Feet of Separation” is now available on the Department of Visual and Fine Art YouTube account through Thursday, Nov. 19.

The production was a collaboration with filmmaker Bridget Murnane and features seven performances starring Sarah McCormick, UT Martin professor of dance, UT Martin students, as well as several of McCormick’s former dance colleagues from California and New York.

“‘6 Feet of Separation’ confronts how we might be separated, but we are still close with each other,” said McCormick in the introduction of the film.

The film was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to host the annual fall showcase while still protecting the safety of the dancers involved. The film is available online at youtube.com/watch?v=FrJNEplFPQ8&feature=youtu.be.
