UT Martin professors to discuss research in music April 6

The University of Tennessee at Martin Research Series, co-sponsored by the Division of Academic Affairs and the Paul Meek Library, will feature the LCD Woodwind Trio at noon on Wednesday, April 6, in the north reading room of Paul Meek Library. The trio consists of Dr. Liz Aleksander, associate professor of music; Charles Lewis, lecturer of music; and Dr. Doug Owens, professor of music. The presentation will also be livestreamed at https://www.utm.edu/live/trio.

The discussion will explore how UT Martin music faculty compose and perform music as part of their research agenda and will include performances of selected works.

The LCD Woodwind Trio was formed in 2013 and consists of the flute, clarinet and saxophone. They have appeared in several notable conventions, including the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest and the College Music Society’s Southern Regional Conference. The group seeks to inspire audiences of all ages through performances and master classes.

This event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Parking for the event will be in the Paul Meek Library parking lot on Wayne Fisher Drive off Mt. Pelia Road. Parking permits are available online at www.utm.edu/departments/publicsafety.
