The Office of Campus Recreation oversees the management of several recreation facilities at UT Martin including: The Elam Center, the outdoor fitness trail at Pacer Pond, Skyhawk Fieldhouse and the Student Recreation Center. Below are pictures and descriptions of each area.

Elam Center

The Kathleen and Tom Elam Center (Elam Center) is the home of Intercollegiate Athleticsand the Department of Health and Human Performance. The Elam Center is located on the west entrance of campus. Inside the Elam Center offers seven basketball courts with volleyball & badminton options, six racquetball courts, an equipment check-out area (Rec Check), an interior jogging balcony, an aerobics room and arena. Outside areas include intramural playing fields located on the west side, tennis courts (lighted) and a beach volleyball courts (lighted).

Elam Center Lobby

The Concourse of the Elam Center is the gateway to the facility allowing four entry points to the arena, concession stands, ticket booth, and restrooms. The stairs leading up will lead you to the Department of Health and Human Performance. The stairs leading down will lead to Rec Check, maintenance, and facility management.

Elam Center Arena

The Skyhawk Arena is home to The University of Tennessee at Martin men's and women's basketball teams as well as the site for commencement ceremonies, physical education activities, and practice space for multiple varsity athletic teams. The Arena allows for over 145,000 square feet of usage space, seats over 5,000 people, and has three separate scoreboards. The movable bleachers are located on the East, West, and South sides of the center court allowing for six regulation basketball courts and 15 badminton courts, and 5 volleyball courts. The Elam Center is named in honor of the University of Tennessee Trustee Col. Tom Elam and his wife, Kathleen.

Locker Room

Every locker room comes with seating for relaxation for the players, lockers, and showers.

Racquetball Courts

These rooms are used for racquetball purposes only. There are six racquetball courts located on the first floor of the Elam Center. Each court is of official size. Each racquetball court comes with an observation balcony where friends/spectators can watch play from a safe distance.

Dance Studio

The Dance Studio is used for dance classes and Health and Human Performance courses. The stage measures 20' x 47' and the floor measures 82' x 47'. The space includes mirrors on east side of the room.

Fitness Trail & Pacer Pond
  • For all emergencies call 911
  • LIGHTS STAY ON until 5:00 a.m.
  • All individuals use the fitness trail at their own risk
  • 1 lap equals 1.45 miles
  • You are responsible for all personal items. The University is not responsible for lost or stolen articles
  • Stay to the right. Slower walkers and runners should move to the right to allow faster runners to pass. Walk or jog no more than two abreast so others have room to pass
  • Littering is forbidden; no food or glass containers are allowed on the trail
  • No weapons, alcohol, smoking, or illegal substances
  • Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by and supervised by an adult
  • Skateboards, inline skates, and bicycles are not permitted
  • THINK SAFETY. Do not wear a headset with the volume turned up so you cannot hear those trying to pass you. Be aware of your surroundings
  • Pets must be leashed at all times. Clean up after your pet and dispose of litter in waste receptacles

The business office for the Office of Campus Recreation serves as the central point of contact for students and patrons to receive information about Campus Recreation services, facility reservations, purchasing memberships and more.

Skyhawk Fieldhouse

The Skyhawk Fieldhouse is home to the Varsity Volleyball Team, host various student activities, and student recreation activities. The Fieldhouse will seat 2,300 spectators, features a hardwood surface, bleachers encircling the court, dual scoreboards, and sound system.

Classrooms

Classroom 2063: This is the smallest of the four classrooms in the Skyhawk Fieldhouse. It can sit up to 32 people. Rather than desks, it is furnished with long tables. It includes a computer, projector, projector screen, and dry erase board.

Classroom 2060: This room can sit up to 42 people. It also includes a computer, projector, projector screen, and dry erase board.

Classroom 2059: This room can sit up to 45 people. A closet is available for storage. It also includes a computer, projector, projector screen, and dry erase board.

Classroom 2056: This room can seat up to 40 people. It also includes a computer, projector, projector screen, and dry erase board.

Conference/Mtg. Room

The Conference Room is an ideal space for a variety of meetings and conference activities. It is complete with a spacious round table, plenty of seating, a projector and screen, and docks for information technology hook ups.

Weight Room

The weight room includes several squat racks, flat benches, incline benches, decline benches, and free weights along with other supplementary workout equipment. This room is utilized for academic classes and athletic teams by students under the supervision of faculty or staff .

Blue Room

The Blue Room also known as the Gymnastics Room boasts many uses within the Elam Center. Academics, Cheerleading, and recreation are a few but not the limit to the Blue Rooms purposes. At 75 feet in length, 42 feet in width and with its gymnastics style flooring the Blue Room is an ideal area to utilize when practicing yoga, martial arts, dance, and much more. School related endeavors have initial priority to the room.

Student Recreation Center

Lobby

Lobby provides space to lounge, watch TV or enjoy a snack.

Leisure Recreation Area

Come and enjoy a friendly game of table tennis, billiards, table shuffleboard, foosball, cards or a variety of other games in our leisure recreation area!

Walk/Jog Balcony

Come walk, jog or run on our 1/8 mile indoor rubberized track which overlooks the gyms below. Adjacent to the track area you will find a stretching area that is equipped with medicine balls, kettle bells, foam rollers, jump ropes, ab mats and TRX equipment.

Gym

Consist of four basketball courts that can be converted into four volleyball courts and three badminton courts upon request.

Racquetball/Wallyball Courts

Whether you're a beginner or a pro at racquetball, we offer three courts available for play. Wallyball is similar to volleyball and is played inside the racquetball courts. Equipment can be checked out at Rec Check.

Cardio Mezzanine

Here you will find a variety of cardiovascular equipment; including treadmills, recumbent bikes, stair climbers, ellipticals, spin bikes, and power mill climber.

Classroom

Classroom is fully equipped with anything you might need for your presentation or meeting and offers seating up to 35.

Group Fitness Room

In this room you are able to complete an individual workout or a take one of our exceptional group fitness class! There are a variety of group fitness classes offered during the afternoon and evening hours.

Locker Rooms

Male and female locker rooms are available for use. Lockers are available for rent from the Office of Campus Recreation for $20 per semester.

Fitness Center

Here you will find a wide variety of selectorized equipment and free weights.

Cycle Suite

The Cycle Suite is a group fitness classroom located on the second floor of the Student Recreation Center. The classroom is equipped to integrate with the MYZONE fitness belts so class attendees can monitor their progress throughout their workout session.
