Men and women in all academic fields may be elected to membership in Phi Kappa Phi on the basis of excellent scholarship and integrity of character. Election of membership by the UT Martin chapter is in accordance with criteria and limits set forth by the national organization of Phi Kappa Phi.

Eligible students must be juniors with at least 72 credit hours and be in the top 7.5% of their class. Seniors must be in the top 10% of their class.

After the initial selection, nomination requires the positive recommendation of the dean and faculty of the school in which the candidate is enrolled and by the election of the active membership of Phi Kappa Phi. A limited number of graduate students and faculty members may be elected upon appropriate recommendations and nominations.
