Mission Statement
The mission for Grounds/Greenhouse Departments is to develop and maintain a functional, safe, colorful, and attractive campus exterior which is not only aesthetically appealing, but contributes to a positive learning environment while serving pedestrian traffic and enhancing the total collegiate experience for both students and the campus community. UT Martin has received national recognition for its beautiful campus.
Meet the Staff
The Grounds Department is led by Manager, Chris Virgin. His lead supervisor is Drew Lester and they have 7 full time landscaping aides along with 3 temporary staff and students who work diligently each day to keep the planting beds and grounds looking their best. They also handle many of the moving projects across the campus. Their work has earned the UT Martin campus several awards including the most recent, Professional Grounds Management Honor Award in 2006 and the Most Beautiful Place in Martin in 2007. Because of the work they do, our campus is unmatched in the state for beauty and variety of trees and landscape.
