Welcome Back to UTM, Skyhawk!

Returning students, sometimes referred to as former students or readmits, are students who have previously attended UT Martin and want to return to campus to continue their studies after having been away for at least one semester (excluding summer semester).

Steps to Re-Apply to UT Martin

Returning students must re-apply for admission before the first day of class. Please review the Academic Calendar for semester start dates. For guidance on how to re-apply, refer to the steps below.

Step 1. Complete an online admissions application at www.utm.edu/apply. You will not be charged an application fee as a returning student.

Step 2. If you have enrolled in other colleges or universities since leaving UT Martin, you will need to request official transcripts be sent to the UTM Office of Admissions.

Step 3. Complete any conditions of readmissions as required if not in good academic standing of 2.0 cumulative GPA at time of departure.

Step 4. Register for classes and meet with the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

Step 5. Contact the Bursar's Office to make payments for classes.

Step 6. Begin classes.

  • To automatically be granted readmission, a student is required to have been in good standing upon their departure from UT Martin with a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • If the student was not in good standing at the time of their departure, their file must go before the Admissions Committee review board to determine readmission eligibility.
  • If the student has attended other institutions since leaving UT Martin, a 2.0 cumulative GPA is required on all college level work.

Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

The BIS degree is a full, 4 year baccalaureate self-designed general studies degree that complies with all university requirements as well as allows students to choose courses that best match their career goals. The BIS degree can either be obtained through traditional on-campus coursework or online. The BIS degree is the most popular choice for our returning adult students.
