The Office of Campus Recreation offers a variety of classes, certifications, and services throughout the year. Below are general descriptions of what we offer regularly, registration information, schedules, and calendars. Group Fitness and Class Schedule
Group Fitness strives to provide healthy, effective alternatives to standard workouts. We provide enjoyable classes that encourage participation and educate patrons on the benefits of exercise. We are committed to helping our students win the battle over a sedentary lifestyle.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions
MYZONE Party Cycle–Cycling is a great cardio workout on an indoor stationary bike listening to FUN music. It works for beginners as well as for elite athletes because you control the intensity as you cycle flat roads and killer hills.
Yoga Chill–This class will help you focus on your body, mind, and spirit through a series of basic standing and seated poses. Yoga increases flexibility and relieves you from the stresses of the day.
MYZONE Shake & Shimmy-Shake & Shimmy your body into awesome shape! This fun cardio dance class will have you grooving to routines inspired by popular music.
MYZONE Circuit Fit-This combination of strength and cardiovascular exercise circuit class will help you reach your fitness goals.
MYZONE Bounce-Get ready for a high adrenaline, low impact, trampoline fitness class that will leave you feeling happy and energized! The tone is set to upbeat, fun music as you work through cardio sequences that will challenge your mind and body.
MYZONE Barre Blast-This class blends elements from different exercise styles including ballet, yoga, and Pilates.
Swing Dance-Let dance instructor Allana Petsch unlock the mysteries of swing dance in this easy-to-follow and energetic class. Knock 'em dead at the next wedding, school dance, or night on the town with your new ability to swing dance. Partner not required, but highly recommended.
*MYZONE is an innovative wearable heart rate based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately and conveniently monitor physical activity. MYZONE monitors heart rate, calories and time exercising that convert into MYZONE Effort Points (MEPs), with a focus on rewarding effort rather than fitness.
*MYZONE Classes-MYZONE belts may be purchased or checked out for the semester (free of charge and an option to purchase) at the Student Recreation Center Control Desk.
*MYZONE belts are not required to attend the classes.

Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies through a combination of online learning and in-person skills sessions. Upon successful completion, participants will earn an American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED which is valid for two years. Thursday, Nov. 4 - 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 6 - 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 7 - 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- $35 nonrefundable deposit to secure space
- $125 to be paid after passing prerequisite skills test
- Minimum age of 15
- Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
- Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Swim goggles are not allowed.
- Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface in order to breathe (or to get a breath).
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Private Group Fitness Classes
Want to have a Fitness Class just for you and your friends or with your organization?
All classes on the Group Fitness Schedule can be taught as a private group class. If there is minimal equipment required, we can bring the class to you.
Private Group Fitness Classes for Athletes
These classes offer athletes an opportunity to improve their posture, power, core strength, coordination, balance and flexibility, which can enhance performance. This is a great way to cross train, prevent injury, and encourage team bonding outside of practice. $40.00 per class

Water Safety Instructor Class
Become a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. This certification course will train instructor candidates to teach water safety, swimming skills and techniques. All registration must be done by contacting the Aquatics Coordinator at (731) 881-7718.

- Must be at least 16 years old
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
- Front Crawl 25 yards
- Back Crawl 25 yards
- Breaststroke 25 yards
- Elementary Backstroke 25 yards
- Sidestroke 25 yards
- Butterfly 15 yards
- Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water by floating or sculling
- Tread water for 1 minute

- $140 to be paid after passing prerequisite skills test
